As we continue our transformative journey in "The Voice: How to Hear the Voice of God," we arrive at our second sermon, "I Am A Friend." This sermon draws us deeper into the heart of our relationship with Jesus, anchored in the profound words of John 15:15, where Jesus Himself calls us not servants, but friends. This distinction elevates our understanding of divine communication, revealing a dialogue grounded in intimacy, love, and mutual respect. As friends of Christ, we are invited into a conversation that transcends the boundaries of mere followership, into a space where our voices are heard, and our lives are deeply intertwined with His purpose. Today, we will explore what it means to be a friend of God—how it shapes our identity, influences our conversations with Him, and transforms the way we listen. In recognizing our privileged position as friends, we uncover the beauty of a reciprocal relationship with the divine, one where the voice of God becomes clearer, more personal, and profoundly life-changing. Let's open our hearts to the richness of this friendship and learn how to engage in this sacred dialogue with the openness and trust of a true friend.
Ps. This sermon series was preached at The Hub in Opelika, AL in the fall of 2016. It was inspired by a sermon series preached by Pastor Robert Morris of Gateway Church Southlake, TX.
